A Day No Pigs Would Die by Robert Newton Peck
Characterization:
Robert: I felt that Robert was a dynamic character that changed from flat to round later on in the book. At the beginning you were not even sure what his name was, but later on you a could almost predict the way he would react to his surroundings like when his dad, Haven, died. Also, he changed from being a young boy that did not want to be a Shaker, to being the head of the household and knowing how to take care of his family.
Haven: Haven was a stock character that was also quite flat. He was a typical farmer, but you were not told much about Haven. Although, even though we did not witness it, we know that he was dynamic because in the end we found it that he had been teaching himself how to write his name.
Pinky: While Pinky was not an actual human, she was a very important character, as Robert's best-and really only-friend. She was a dynamic and also a round character. We knew quite a lot about Pinky, like what she ate, her background, and what was expected of her in the future. We first met her as a piglet, but later on when she was fully grown it was revealed that she was barren and was eventually slaughtered.
Ben Tanner: Ben was dynamic and also a round character. He was a close neighbor to Robert and Haven, and actually gifted Pinky to Robert. He changed over time from being just a neighbor to Robert, to being a sort of friend, and was there for Robert when Haven died.

Tone: The tone of the book made it seem as if the events were a distant and painful memory. It was almost reminiscent in the way the author talked.
Mood: The whole book I felt a sort of pity for Robert that he had to go threw everything like being bullied and not even really understanding it, having to kill his own pet pig, and then having to take care of the funereal when his father died.
